MAD

A redesign of the Museum of Art and Design building by Brad Cloepfil of Allied Works Architecture was followed by a redesign of the museums graphic identity. Pentagram has created this new graphic identity which can already be seen throughout the city, on the side of buses, on street banners, in print ads and in the subways. The geometric-based marks are said to reflect the circles and squares present in the building's shape; its location, on Columbus Circle; and the building's iconic 'lollipop' columns retained in the redesign. The MAD acronym is such a great asset, its short, pronounceable and memorable and the design allows it to appear in different ways on different occasions. See more of the MAD on the pentagram website. Quirky typography with a playful colour palette.

Things I Have Learned In My Life so Far

This book began as a list Stefan made in his diary of things i have learned in my life so far, which include statements such as 'Complaining is silly. Either act or forget' and 'Trying to look good limits my life'. These sentences were then transformed into typographic works, from bill-boards in France to sign-toting inflatable monkeys on the streets of Scotland.
Everything about the project - its energy, humor, ambition and ingenuity  - is typical of Sagmeister's work. "It's a sublime mixture of violent and subtle, gross and endearing, direct and pensive," said Paola Antonelli, senior curator of architecture and design at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. "Stefan is a razor-blade wielding, gracefully brutal, always surprising master of communication - the Johnny Depp of the design world."

Dolce and Gabbana

This fantastic hand-drawn typographic treatment of the Dolce & Gabbana logotype is by Colin Lee, an illustrator and designer from London. The elegant D&G logotype was influenced by the Rocco and Baroque periods, as this style of decoration embodied the kind of decadence thats often associated with the fashion industry.

Alex Trochut

Alex Trochut is a graphic designer who is particularly interested in typography and illustration. His beautiful and exciting designs created for magazines, posters, books and packaging were all very exciting and pleasing to the eye and here i have picked out the ones that caught my attention the most from his portfolio alextrochut.com.

The videotape ribbon logo was created for the motion and interactive studio Dvein. I followed on to their website to learn more... based in Barcelona they provide art direction, design and animation for cinema, broadcast, music videos etc. Some you may have seen include the opening sequence to the Spiderman 3 movie. Pretty nifty website too!
